According to blackholetec.com added features of this version include MSI R9 280 series voltage control support with MD Tonga graphics processors family support and voltage control for reference design AMD RADEON R9 285X series graphics cards with NCP81022 voltage regulators. Another overclocking for AMD Tonga graphics processors was also added. But this was only limited for the processors and not the AMD Tolga graphic processor family. Another feature of ‘Layered graphs’ was also added in the ‘Attach’ tab where user can customize as many-layered graphs as he wants with customizable colours and the user can also adjust the number of graphs in the “Active monitoring graphs” section in the “Monitoring” tab. Another “Override graph” option is also added where users can rename their graphs displayed on the monitoring tab. Prehistory buffer size is now fixed with over 3600 samples available. Also, two types of modes are now available for the user to select from either text mode or bar chart indicator mode.

New Logitech API is also introduced which enables the users to view between different Logitech LCD displays with colour displays for Logitech G19/G19s keyboards. The G19/G19s keyboards allow the user to flip between text or graph mode for better viewing. This option is available on the ‘Menu’ tab. Font size has also been increased to 8×12, 10×12, 12×12 and 12×16 with more acceleration for better scrolling.

New temperature settings allow the user to switch between either Celsius or Fahrenheit for better monitoring. Also, 12 hours/ 24 hours’ time format allows the user to control ‘On Screen Display’ by choice.

New option of “Enable low-level IO driver” has also been added in the ‘General’ tab but a slight modification has also been made for better monitoring of Intel iGPUs when the “Enable low-level IO driver” option is not switched on. Slight improvements have also been made in the handshaking algorithm with advanced hardware polling for both NVIDIA graphics cards and Multi-GPU systems. Another SV12 voltage control is also added for better compatibility with graphic cards via AMD ADL SDK and another option of automatically pre-recording the video has also been included in the “Video capture” tab.

Significant changes have also been made in the skin engine with improved skin compiler to which gives a greater depth if the skin compiler fails due to an error. Moreover, the skin compiler supports the possible BMP format and the whole PNG format. This marks the end of MSI afterburner supporting 24-bit BMP files only. The modified skin format includes three new modes.

Traditional Mode

This best used for performance testing with backward compatibility with existing skins.

Layered Mode with Colorkey

Layered mode wit colorkey allows for better adjustment of transparency of skinned window and also provides faster rendering of skins at supersonic speed with non-rectangle window shape.

Layered Mode with Alpha

Layered Mode with Alpha provides more advanced visual effects with compatible skins and also provides alpha channel support per pixel.

This version also allows skin cross-compatibility with other applications on RivaTuna Engine. A special layer of GUI imbedded in the chip allows the user to use skins from a third party without much difficulty and also makes the process of transferring skins to MSI afterburner less tiring.
